Hey Beautiful!
How are you? I hope you’re doing just great! Today I’ve prepared a spellbinding mini guide concerning the ways that will help you extend makeup wear. I’m going to share with you a few proven tricks (actually, there will be 3 of them) thanks to which at the end of a day my makeup looks exactly the same as it was when I was leaving home in the morning.
Before applying the color cosmetics, prepare your skin for makeup!
The secret of perfect makeup lies neither in the cosmetics used nor the application technique applied, but in the daily skincare treatments. The way the skin is treated in the first stages of beauty routine translates into the way it looks later, in full makeup. Below you’ll find the things that – in my opinion – should be born in mind.
- Deep skin cleansing – skin freed from dirt, excess sebum and other grime is the core of long-wear makeup that doesn’t sweat off.
- Exfoliating – regular exfoliation is also extremely crucial because the dead skin cells are one of the biggest obstacles lying on the way to perfectly smooth skin.
- Moisturizing – water makes over 75% of the human body, so it shouldn’t be surprising that water shortages negatively influence the skin that becomes rough and dull.
- Toning – after every skin cleansing you have to restore the skin’s pH balance, and skin toners or floral waters are proven to be the best ones to help you with this.
Makeup application techniques and its wear. What did I observe?
A few words have to be devoted to the makeup application techniques because, after all, it matters as well. The accessories used for putting on makeup products are equally important. Here are a few tips I can give you.
- The wear of a foundation applied with fingers isn’t long. Also, it doesn’t last as long as when using a top flat brush or beauty blender.
- Better effects are created when the color cosmetics are patted into the skin because in this way you somehow force the products into the skin instead of smearing them on the face – this makes another long-wear makeup trick to memorize.
- The amount also matters. It’s definitely better to use less high-coverage concealer than more of a product that has problems with covering up the imperfections.
My long-wear makeup tricks. What are the secrets for long-lasting wear?
The truth is that even perfectly prepared skin and the most cunningly applied makeup don’t guarantee you long-lasting wear. The external factors such as wind, rain, hot weather and sweat have to be taken into account too. We even keep touching the face throughout a day which also spoils makeup. In this case, you should learn makeup setting techniques. Below you can find my three proven ways that you should know.
- Oil control blotting paper – when I finish doing makeup I grab my pack of blotting paper or regular tissues and press them gently to the most problematic (due to being oily) parts of my face: nose, cheeks, forehead, chin. In this way, I’m collecting the excess makeup that may create smudges.
- Translucent mineral powder – then I dust the face with a translucent powder (it doesn’t add any color) that sets the color cosmetics really well. I’d like to draw your attention to one thing. Namely, instead of brushing the face with the powder, try stamping it. In this way you extend its wear.
- Makeup fixing spray – always when I do makeup prior to some very important occasion and when I need to be 100% sure that it won’t sweat off, I reach for a fixing spray. This cosmetic is lightweight and has an extra benefit – it moisturizes the skin. With this product I’m positive that the makeup I applied will last all night. And the best bit is that makeup fixing sprays are super easy to use.
