Facial cleansing with oils. What are my top OCM oils?

There are things that don’t seem to make a good match but they are actually amazing when paired together, like chocolate and chili! Other happy duo is skin and… natural oils! Taken aback?

Enjoy my post on OCM i.e. oil cleansing method 🙂

I guess I’ve repeated that many times but let me explain again for the new arrivals on my blog. I love, love, love oils. I’m a huge fan of natural skin and hair care and keep uncovering the new potential of oils over and over again. I stand for replacing chemicals with what’s nature has presented to the world. That’s why my beauty arsenal is filled up with organic vegetable oils.

I usually do a deep-conditioning hair treatment with oils or use them for DIY facial masks. I also like to rub castor oil into my nails. Believe it or not, I also use oils for FACE CLEANSING!

Facial oil cleansing method. Does it really work?

You can use oils instead of readymade make-up removers, micellar water, gel cleansers, etc.

I know it sounds unbelievable. After all oils are greasy. How come they are able to make something clean and grease-free then? Let me quote the rule: oil dissolves oil. There’s also a Latin phrase saying that “similia similibus curantur” which means “like cures like”. Therefore, when we are bothered by excess sebum, we can handle it by using a thing that is equally greasy. An oil seems to be a saver then.

Is OCM safe for skin?

Hell yeah! I dare to think that face oil cleansing is safer for the skin than readymade foams, gels or, worst of all, soaps. A natural oil doesn’t damage the natural hydro-lipid barrier. It actually makes it stronger. Thanks to that, OCM doesn’t dry out or irritate skin, and it works even for sensitive skin.

I know from my own experience that it’s all true. My face skin used to be extremely dry and tight-feeling after every wash. It changed once I replaced cleanser gel with a blend of oils <3

How to cleanse face skin using oils?

It isn’t a tricky task. A couple of simple steps keep you away from making your skin better-looking.

  1. Make your own oil blend (details below).
  2. Use your fingers to smooth it over the face and massage the skin for approx. 60 seconds.
  3. Soak a towel or muslin cloth in warm water.
  4. Press it to the skin for a moment and gather the oil excess.
  5. If it still doesn’t feel fresh, repeat point 4.
  6. Close the skin pores by wiping the face with a cloth soaked in cool water.
  7. Do OCM twice a day in the AM and PM.

Benefits of face oil cleansing method

You must know by now that natural beauty oils have numerous conditioning properties. Mostly, oils keep the skin’s protective coat in shape, replenish lipids, prevent loss of moisture and make skin smoother.

There’s more to it, though! OCM works well when your skin is irritated. Oils soothe inflammation, detoxify and have an antibacterial effect, plus they rejuvenate the skin, boost its resilience, nourish and keep pH balanced.

OCM blend. How to make it step by step?

Castor oil is the base of your OCM blend. This simple and underrated oil is actually the best face-cleansing agent. Still, even the best castor oil (to me it’s Nanoil) might be too heavy for face skin so you must mix it with other, lighter oils.

The proportions depend on your type of skin:

  • 10% of castor oil for dry skin.
  • 30% of castor oil for combination skin.
  • 70% of castor oil for oily skin.

My favorite OCM oils

Which face cleansing oil to pair with castor oil? The one that tackles the problems of your skin type. I will recommend my OCM blend top choices but it doesn’t mean they will work the same for you.

Dare to test and experiment!

My top OCM oils:

  • sweet almond oil,
  • original Moroccan argan oil,
  • jojoba oil (its structure is similar to human sebum),
  • black seed oil,
  • wild rose oil (not essential oil).

Without hesitations I can point to the brand I choose most often: it’s Nanoil. Their offer comprises high-quality, natural, cold-pressed and unrefined organic oils. I love the brand for the weightless formulas and reliable sources. They are cut out for OCM!
