Have you ever dreamt of beach waves hair look? I have. Unfortunately, getting them naturally isn’t usually possible. Thankfully, I know how to revive the memories of the summer beach time by creating the look at home. Let me share my recipe for a salt spray so you can get the dream beach waves quickly and effortlessly.
The salt-spray trick for getting beach waves has been known for years. Hairstylists know that the simplest solutions are often the best so they make use of salt to create unbelievably fabulous beach waves, leaving you stunned. How do I know that? Because my hairdresser gave me the recipe for a salt spray! She was the one to tell me how to easily get beautiful beach waves without a curling wand, crimper or other hot tools.
How to create beach waves?
There are two options: you either go to the seaside, take a bath in salty water and leave the hair to air-dry or you try this salt spray. Of course there are other ways but you need a crimper, waver or curler and obviously you need to skillfully operate the tool to get the desired effect – it’s difficult, time-consuming and may end up with burnt hair. There is a better method you should test!
DIY salt spray gives a truly natural effect and it’s my favorite way to get beach waves. You just need to spray this easy-to-make mist on hair after shampooing and scrunch up the strands. Once they dry, you can boast amazing beach waves.
Salt spray for beach waves – DIY recipe
What is a salt spray made up of?
- 1 cup of boiled water
- 1 teaspoon of sea salt
- 1 teaspoon of oil e.g. argan oil
- 2 teaspoons of aloe gel
Obviously, you can use other oil if you like. The thing is you need an emollient so any vegetable oil will work. As far as aloe gel goes, you can use a leave-in conditioner instead but use a smaller amount.
Why sea salt?
Because table salt doesn’t have any nutritional value. It may take too much water out of your hair leaving it extremely dry. Sea salt, on the other hand, is rich in minerals that benefit the hair.
How to make a salt spray?
- Boil water, pour it into an atomizer bottle once it cools down.
- Add salt and oil, shake to mix the ingredients.
- Enrich the blend with aloe gel and mix well.
- Shake before each use.
What effect does a salt spray have on hair?
This is very simple: after spraying it on damp hair, the spray enhances the irregularity of the hair texture and brings the natural curl out. It doesn’t weigh hair down, leave it greasy or sticky provided that you don’t overuse it! Salt particles settle on hair making it thicker and more voluminous, plust the curl lasts longer. I love this DIY hair enhancer and it’s a great alternative to ready-made salt sprays. This option is easier on the pocket, more natural and harmless since it’s free from preservatives, colorants and synthetic aromas.
Summing up, this homemade salt spray is worth a try. It really works!
